Unlike synthetic sources of astaxanthin, Aquasta® contains Beta glucans, which are known to improve overall disease resistance (Robertsen, et al. 1990). Found in the cell walls of yeast, Beta glucans have been proven effective in supporting the overall immune system of salmon to fight off viral infection (Engstad and Robertsen, 1995).

MAXIMUM RETENTION

In order to maximize the value of your overall astaxanthin purchase, Aquasta® contains a small amount of ascorbic acid that acts as a preserving agent to give the product a 12-month shelf life. Astaxanthin losses can be minimized or virtually eliminated if Aquasta® is refrigerated or frozen throughout its storage period.

Aquasta® has proven its stability throughout every stage of feed manufacturing. Field studies examining the stability of Aquasta® concluded that there was no difference between synthetic sources of astaxanthin and our naturally-sourced alternative after various extrusion processes, production timelines and storage temperatures.
